You can practice this particular dog training method numerous times throughout a day while you are at home. I am doing this with 3 dogs, none of which are mine. It is obviously a bit harder to control 3, but you will get the point in this video.

Although a dog may like water, a dog not necessarily will be very passionate about water coming from a hose, so this would be limited to dogs that really like water from a hose. You could also teach the dog to go under, over, or through objects with a hose if he really is passionate about the hose, but in this video we are showing how we would teach them to just get into water.

I made this quick video because this is the most common question I get asked daily on youtube. BUT the secret is not WHAT treat to use, but what treat YOUR dog needs you to use. It will be different for every dog! The next secret is that you have to keep changing the treats up or the dog will get bored/habituate to the treat you always use.

Dr. Dunbar has written numerous books, including How To Teach A New Dog Old Tricks, the Good Little Dog Book and a series of Behavior Booklets: separate educational booklets on each of the most common pet behavior problems. Additionally, Dunbar has hosted eleven videotapes on puppy/dog behavior and training, including SIRIUS ® Puppy Training, Training Dogs With Dunbar and Every Picture Tells A Story.
