Puppy mills are commercial dog-breeding operations - some on a massive scale, other people are Mom-Pop backyard, basement or garage set-ups. It doesn’t matter which. Profit is offered precedence over quality. The physical, mental and social properly getting from the puppies and reproduction stock puppies are not important.
Responsible breeders place priority on producing the healthiest, happiest, and most well adjusted puppies achievable; sparing no expense. There is NO consideration of genetic quality, mental/physical health, and/or socialization. Puppy mills are shocking. The truth there exists not a lot more outcry to shut them down, and punish the owners, is reprehensible. There is small to no concern for that health and nicely being of breeding stock dogs or their puppies. The goal is always to get as quite a few young puppies out of the reproduction pair as cheaply as possible. Quality food can be an unnecessary expense.
I hear more and more about pup mills everyday. It makes me sick to my stomach, and it makes my heart hurt. It is honestly just sad. How could any regular human being run, a lot less work at a puppy mill? It puts me at a loss for words. A pup mill is frequently a business, a facility that’s designed purely for profit, not to the well-being of dogs.
The propagation combinations are despicable. Mothers are bred with sons. Fathers are bred with daughters. Brothers bred with sisters. Aunts bred with nephews. Cousins bred with cousins. The sole purpose of your puppy mill would be to get rid of as several puppies to the highest price possible.
These dogs obtain tiny or no veterinary care and by no means see a bed, treat, toy, and certainly not go on walks. After their fertility wanes, breeding animals are commonly killed, abandoned or marketed to an additional mill. The result of all this propagation is thousands and thousands of puppies, numerous with behavior and/or wellbeing problems. They are usually three to five canines to 1 tiny cage. They start going crazy at times and just pace back and forth or run in circles.
Sadly, countless young puppies are culled (killed, commonly inhumanely) for such defects as misshaped ears, tails, or legs. They are also destroyed for obvious breed disqualifications including wrong coat color or pattern or incorrect eye color. Mosquitoes burst out and thrive around pup mill, not to mention flies, maggots, lice, mites and ticks!
Typically pup mill young puppies are offered through what is called a Class B broker and/or middleman to flea markets, on-line web sites and pet shops. The majority certainly not acquire them…others are falsified.
The bulk of them are overcrowded, illness ridden, unsanitary and ruthless. Most often, the reproduction stock once “used up”, if not slaughtered inhumanely or sold to investigation labs, will live the rest their short lives caged in unsafe, and unsanitary conditions. They will acquire the least amount of low quality food required to sustain them.
Even on the outside chance the reproduction stock and their puppies end up in the hands of a Class B broker, they’ll receive tiny or no veterinary care, often leading to critical medical problems.

These four 12 week old Staffie/Mastiff pups are all named after characters from Grange Hill - Zamo, Gonch, Trisha and Tucker.
