Dog Training Tutorial- HOUSETRAINING

THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

House-training is often the first thing most dogs need to learn as they become part of a new family. Since this is something I have been getting numerous requests for - I decided to do a video on it.

There is some additional information on housetraining (tips) that I did not include in the video which is available on my Facebook page under the discussions section.

***NOTE***
All this information assumes that the dog in question is in good health and not suffering from any sickness/disease. Sometimes lack of bladder and bowel control is a result of ill health and if you suspect that this might be the case with your dog, please immediately consult your vet to rule out any such possibility.

It is also assumed that the dog is not struggling with fear-based elimination. As is often the case with some dogs, the goal in these instances would be to tackle the issue of fear/anxiety in addition to following all the advice given in the video. Unfortunately, the details in these situations are specific and unique to the dog - so the best approach is to contact a professional dog trainer who uses positive reinforcement only, to assess and determine the most appropriate course of action.

Working on more surpentines and threadles. My form is getting better and both dogs are following me much better! I know that agility is a lot the handler!!! I tend to make all the mistakes! :) Training a human to run agility is hard work! :)

I also worked on a few things for freestyle! I want to put more heel work in my next freestyle routine, so I must get to practicing and training it. Bandit and I like the fast stuff much better! Isabelle on the other hand does not mind going slow at all! I still love my Izzie busy!

Well all my YouTube friends, Have a wonderful Sunday Evening! See you all next week with Episode #2 on training a dog to come when called.

Positive dog training: “Sit”

1 from the first positive dog training lessons an owner should train their pet is how to sit. This really is an extremely simple skill but 1 that comes in handy in a variety of situations. Positive dog training teaches your pet this skill by getting started with the pet standing. Of all the doggy coaching ideas on teaching a pet to sit the best is always to begin while using doggy standing.

The reason for this is to use repetitive commanding to force the doggie to remember and associate the command with the proper action. This positive dog training is going to let them know that they’re having rewarded for performing what they were told. The pet may seem confused at initial but with practice and patience you’ll teach them what “sit” signifies and that these are getting rewarded each time they do it when these are told. This way they understand what they are being rewarded for and it is a incredibly practical example of positive dog training.

Positive dog training: House instruction is about communication

If your dog has a issue with understanding not to urinate (or worse) in the house, the worst thing that you can do is stick their nose in it or begin yelling at them.  With positive dog training keeping in constant communication with your pet is crucial in the event you want them to become properly house-trained. In case you want your doggie being house-trained you may need to communicate with them and let them know how very good they’re for waiting to go outside. Positive dog training also indicates that you just take a closer appear at your dogs behavior.

This video is on capturing a behavior using clicker training. I have been working on capturing natural behaviors with Isabelle and putting them on cue. So far she can sneeze on cue “Smell the Skunk” and now scratching “Do you have fleas?”. I have also captured other tricks that Isabelle likes to do by just clicking her when she does them and put them on cue, “boing” and “cross paws”.

Once your dog understands that their movements can make you click and earns them a reward, they will start offering behaviors and be more aware as to what they were doing when you clicked. I think that it is just fun to try to take what the dog already loves doing or does anyway and put it on cue.

Good luck and have fun with capturing behaviors!
