Need help raising two puppies and how to train them?
THIS IS AWESOME!
My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog.
Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches.

I was given two shih tzu/chihuahua/dachshund puppies. I am really not sure how to raise them. I started off with them both in one crate. Now I have it so they are kinda fenced in to one part of my bedroom. I am now starting to think I need to seperate them in different crates downstairs. They whimper through the night and w.o thinking in my sleep I put them on my bed…which leads to more issues of them peeing on my bed…which obivously i can’t stand. So, i need some advice. Should I put them downstaires in seperate crates? will they be ok like that throughout the night?
Also, they are both boys. Hemi and chevy…Chevy bites Hemi so much that he has 5 small wounds on his back and chevy won’t let him sleep…
Also, I travel a lot so I need them to get used to the other house members and not be depend on me..
I live with family not roommates…little different. there are 5 other people in the house.
For anyone curious,
I have decided to keep only one puppy and make it a family dog not "just my dog". since we dont have any other dogs and there are two kids here. I pulled a meeting and everyone is going to help me raise him. Thank you for your advice, although I am giving the one back to the lady who has his mom Not the ASPCA or SPCA..all they do is kill. She wanted to keep one of the babies anyway and wanted the one I will give back. Hoepfully all will be well
Raising two puppies at the same time is always extremely difficult. The fact that you travel a lot and that there are five other people in the house makes this doubly difficult.
You were given these puppy’s, you did not have the option of considering their future. Although the thought of giving them up will appal you, there is no way that you can cope if you travel and need to rely on your family to love and cherish them during your travels.
If you keep these puppies, coping with them will become more of a problem. Although you will try to cope, they will become less adoptable as they mature. People want to adopt puppies, consequently I think that you should have them adopted separately ASAP. If they are adopted together another owner could have a problem.

they each need their own crates and they will also need individual training sessions with you. That said with how much you travel do you even have time for ONE puppy let alone two? These are your pets for the moment and not the responsibility of your roommates. If you know you really won’t have time for both these pups find one or both new homes or turn them over to a small breed rescue.
ETA: Roommates family whatever. Point is the dogs were given to YOU so they are still YOUR responsibility and if you don’t have time for them you need to find them someplace else to go.

Sounds like you’re not really in a position to own puppies if you travel alot. But as for the crate training….put them in separate crates at night downstairs. It will take a week or so for them to get used to it but they will be fine. If you decide to keep them you need to do alot of research on more training.

Yes, i would agree, if you travel a lot then owning 2 puppies wont work out. You need to give them a lot of your attention and if you travel a lot that’s not going to happen.
But if you were to train them, train them when they are young! These kinds of dogs are meant to be trained when they are young because you will have a harder time training them when they are older. And at night i would recommend putting them in different crates next to your bed. I have a shitzu and when we first got him as a tiny little pup he would cry all night long but we finally put him on the bed to sleep with me and he did fine after that…He would at times jump off the bed because he had too go to the bathroom but just make sure you take them out before you go to bed. So after that we did some research on the breed and it turns out that they like to sleep on your bed instead of in the create because they were originally guard dogs so they would rather prefer being with you at all times and i read that they used to sleep on the end of ones bed to keep your feet warm. So that’s probably why he didn’t want to sleep on the ground. But its really your choice, either you keep them trained in the crate or you let them sleep on your bed. But i would really keep them crate trained if you wanted to crate them when there older. I let my dog sleep on my bed because i don’t have any use of a crate for him and when we leave we just leave him on the couch and he does fine. ( just leave some pody pads out though).
OK, so for training them, just start out with the basic commands. sit, stay lie down. I am recently working on Sit for my shitzu since i didn’t train him while he was young. But what i did, was i just got a treat, help it up over his head, and they should stand up on there legs then push the treat down a little bit and they should go into the "sit" position, and that’s when you say the command "sit" so they get that word in there heads.
Hope this helps! Good luck! =)
