We just got a mastiff dog and we are having a hard time find a good food for the dog. I would like to know what is the best food, and if you have a diet please explain it ? All ideas are helpful
something grain free like Taste of the Wild, Earthborn, or Bil-Jac frozen. If you are dealing with a pup you want something with less than 25% protein.

An adult dog food even if a puppy. 23% protein, 10% fat, 1% calcium. Do not give calcium or vitamin D supplements.
I choose to feed just an average grade dog food to my Malakli (mastiff type dog). But they are known for sustaining on horribly poor nutrition in Turkey.
Some mastiff breeds have digestive issues. So if this seems to be an issue, you may have to opt for a higher grade or quality food.

A raw prey-model diet is the best food for ALL dogs. Join the Yahoo groups "raw feeding" and "raw chat". Lurk for a few days & you will learn a lot. They also have archives that have all the info you need to begin. No mixing, little measuring, no fuss. Buy meat. Put it down. It really is that easy. You can buy your meat at the same grocery store you get your own. I would NEVER go back to commercial dog food now that I have seen first hand the wonderful benefits of feeding my carnivore what nature designed them to thrive on.
