THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

Everyone requires exercise, even our dogs. Taking a walk is one of the best forms of exertion that nearly everyone can easily take up. And it’s wonderful with regard to your dogs as well. Yet even more than merely engaging in physical exertion, going for a walk resembles viewing a world of interesting facts for your dog. All the scents, sounds and sights are fascinating. So, not only does your dog get the physical stimulation of moving her joints, but at the same time the mental stimulation entering all those sensory receptacles.

I know it is simply not always easy to plan time during the day to go for a walk, and in particular with shorter days of winter and a full work schedule. Nevertheless during the time you are away at your job and maybe getting physical exercise there, your dog is at home quite possibly napping or potentially engaging in harmful activities that is her only outlet for the agitated energy she needs to do away with.  If you can’t always take a walk with your 4-legged friend, there are still a few workable solutions for helping her receive that exercise she desperately needs.

A doggy day care center is a supervised place for a dog to get exercise with other dogs all day long. These doggy day cares are great for dogs who get along with other dogs. Most of these playgroups also have agility or other play equipment, dog beds for break time, balls and extra toys to play with and definitely personnel managing all the play.  You may even find one with a supervised swimming pool for those hot days.

One more great way to get your dog her necessary exercise is by choosing a person to take her for a walk for you during the time you are unable to take her yourself.  Naturally you would likely want to verify the qualifications of any person coming into your yard or taking your dog from your home for a walk, but it will most certainly pacify your psyche to know that while you are at work, your dog is being exercised.

One other method is to try to find a person in your location who has a dog compatible with your dog and arrange a play time where possibly the owner of the other dog will take in your dog for a day while you are working. You can reciprocate by welcoming that friend’s dog at some point in time for a day as well. The dogs can let loose, they are at the same time supervised and you will both receive cheerful, relaxed dogs at the end of the working day.

On the other hand, you might have a small dog who at the same time needs exercise yet just can’t continuously keep up with you on your walks or go as far as you would likely prefer to go.   Or maybe you love to go running and would like to take your little dog, however you realize she would not be able to keep up the pace. There are actually 3-wheeled pet strollers for precisely that purpose that cost under $ 40, so you would not even have to make a sizable financial commitment and yet could certainly take your little dog along with you perhaps for a stroll or a run.  If your dog is young enough to do some running with you, this is a terrific means to take her with you, allow her to jog for a little bit, then settle her back in the stroller as you continue on your jog. You are both getting the physical exercise you require and you get to spend a lot of time together.

So often I see men and women out taking a walk alone and yet I know they live with dogs. I don’t understand this, since an exerted dog is a contented dog. I speculate it could be due to the possibility that their dog is not very mannerly on a lead, yet that is easy to fix with time, determination and consistency. Surely there is a dog trainer nearby who would be happy to help with that concern.

It is so essential to exercise our own selves and our dogs that I cannot really stress it enough. Lack of exercising is one vital cause of negative activity in a few dogs causing resentment, stress and potentially re-homing or taken to a dog pound by the owner. And certainly lack of physical exercise is a leading factor in health issues in people in addition to dogs, including excessive weight.

So snatch a few minutes each day to take a walk with your dog. You may find you are feeling healthier yourself, both psychologically and physically and you’ll be prefering to walk for a bit longer periods of time, even if it’s no more than on your days off from work. And trust me - your dog will be grateful to you.
