THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

It’s always more prudent to research before you make the purchase, especially when you’re planning to get electric collar for your pet. This short article covers some of those features.

The appropriate transmission range. This should be the first thing you decide on. You may only need a remote training collar for when you bring your dog out on your back yard. If you have working dogs or sheep dogs, you may need a considerably longer range. Since the transmission range might affect price, you should find a range that suits your needs.

Indicators for how far your dog is, and how much battery power you have left. Some models come with features that allow you to tell whether your dog is still within transmission range, and consequently whether your dog is about to leave effective transmission range. In a large area, such as a farm or wooden hills and hunting grounds, you want the dog training collar to work, and those indicators help. The same should be said about the battery indicators, since sometimes one forgets to charge the batteries at home (at least it could be done while in the car). It’s always good to know when both the collar and the transmitter are running low on power.

Audible signals. It’s good to know that when you press a button you can hear something, and indication that something happened. It’s good because when you activate a static correction on the transmitter, a sound is heard, telling, if the dog’s collar’s sound is within earshot, where your dog is.

Rechargeable batteries. Some models need replacement batteries every now and then. Not every dog owner constantly has a back up set of new batteries - so it’s convenient if you had model you can charge conveniently, at home or in your car.

Clear transmission all the time. Some models relay on FM signal for unmatched transmission clarity. What this means for you is that, regardless of where you find yourself - hilly areas, wooded regions, buildings in urban parts of the city - you still get to send signals to your dog’s collar.

Multiple dog “management.” You might want an electric collar package that already has many collars - and one transmitter - or at least the capacity to buy more collars later on, in case the number of your dogs increase.

Controls you can understand as you tinker with it. One differentiating factor among units is the ease of use - and it’s the same with competing brands of electric collars. Choose the package with a transmitter that’s easy to use.
