Golden Retriever fans may not understand that the breed is split into at least 2 distinct subspecies: American Golden Retrievers and English Golden Retrievers.Most people don’t notice subtle variations between smaller branches of pedigreed dogs, however to skilled trainers and to people who present dogs, these differences matter.

English Golden Retrievers go by a wide range of names, including “White Golden Retrievers,” which refers to their cream-coloured, lighter coats.Some of the other terms used to refer to English Golden Retrievers are Blonde Goldens, Platinum Goldens, British Cream Retrievers, and British Goldens.The coloring of American Golden Retrievers, on the other hand, may be pale yellow all the way up to darkish mahogany.

The fur of White Golden Retrievers is shorter and not a dark, and their bodies are stockier and more square shaped.  They also have square faces and noses which are more block-shaped and a bit shorter.White Golden Retrievers were bred to withstand the wet, cold weather of the English countryside and were used as hunting dogs.

White Golden Retrievers don’t need the intensive grooming that American Golden Retrievers require.American Golden Retrievers have glamorous coats which are showy but high maintenance.American Golden Retrievers have long hair that can become a practical problem.A White Golden Retriever can shake off water quickly and easily, whereas a wet American Golden Retriever stays wet for awhile.

White Golden Retrievers may be told apart from American Golden Retrievers in other ways.White Golden Retrievers have darker eyes which are set just behind their ears.White Golden Retrievers look a bit different in the face because of these differences of their eyes and ear.

Both White and American Golden Retrievers have family-friendly, easy-going dispositions.White Golden Retrievers are family-friendly, loving, quick to learn, active, and playful.White Golden Retrievers are perfect with children and are popular for use as companions to the handicapped, but they don’t adapt well to households where they must be alone much of the day.

White Golden Retrievers love to be outside and adapt nicely to country and suburban households or to owners who like to be outdoors themselves.They love to be taken along on hunting journeys and make great sporting dogs.White Golden Retrievers are fast learners so getting them through obedience training, which is recommended, is a snap.
