THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

Taking a new pet to your home is thrilling. But there is extra sacrifice to be made for such an experience like training the pet in the basic rules.

Basic obedience training is a good place to start training your dog in that you will establish a language and a bond between you and your pet.

The training will help your dog to know what is expected of him so he could fulfill these expectations. There is a choice of several modes of dog obedience training

There are two common modes of training, they are leash and reward. Which one you choose to use depends on what kind of relationship you want with your dog.

This article will provide a more in depth look at these two modes.

One rather strict mode, called leash training or called collar training is useful for you when your dog does not obey you.

Leash training is more popular as method of training a dog. The leash helps the dog learn and if the dog disobeys you, the leash will help in the correction

This kind of training is useful for dogs used as military and security reasons. They can’t afford to disobey their master.

However, using this type of training on a puppy is ill advised because it is too harsh on a puppy.

The other house training dogs method that is growing in popularity since the last few years is reward training.

In using this method, you encourage the dog to listen to you by offering food and toys for the dog.

You can start with rewarding the dog’s favorite food for doing a few things.

Words of appreciation like “wonderful” can make a good replacement for food, toys and other physical rewards.

Patting its back is a good way to reward it in that it makes it feel like it has accomplished something.

A compassionate dog owner would probably rather stay away from leash training. Reward training is definitely one of the better ways of training the dog. It does require a lot of patience and time.

If though, you want your dog’s strong and disciplined like military dogs, a better training mode would be leash training

Remember at all times that all you want from your dog through training is that he obeys you and you will benefit very well from these techniques
