THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

All the dog owners and lovers have heard at least once in their lifetime a story about runner dogs. What’s a runner? Usually a dog is called a runner if he or she is so eager to roam about everywhere but in its confined area, that no fence is able to stop it from escaping. If it happens that you have one of these runner dogs, you surely know that he or she is not willing to do any harm to either humans or animals, having just these huge curiosity and desire to playing and running free. We all want our dogs to have as much freedom as they possibly can, but don’t let your energetic canine companion become prey to the dangers of the outside world. There is an option now that gives your dog the illusion of complete freedom while keeping him or her completely confined and protected. This option is best known as the invisible dog fence.

You can easily set up one of these marvelous fences, it is not hard or time consuming to install a set of sensors along the perimeter of the yard or other place you consider appropriate to safely contain your dog, and to attach the special adjustable collar around your dog’s neck. The collar is programmed to read when the dog is getting too close to the sensor and will start beeping as a warning sign, telling your dog not to go any further. If your dog ignores the warning beep and keeps moving towards the sensors’ line, the collar will issue an electric shock that, though mild and short, will tell him to back off. As very intelligent animals they are, the dogs won’t need more than two or three shocks to learn stopping when they hear the warning beep.

The major issue most people have with these fences is that they believe the shock the collar gives their dog is inhumane treatment. The invisible dog fence was invented in 1971, and since then it has been improved drastically. The shock given to the dog is mild and short, about the level of the static shocks we can experience occasionally at home. It doesn’t harm the dog at all; it simply startles your pet. Most of the collars used come with a setting for the intensity of the shock and owners are encouraged to test the collar out for themselves before placing it on their dog. It is certainly more humane than the suffering your dog would experience if he is hit by a vehicle or wounded by a neighbour’s gun.

Invisible fences have been rewarding for dogs and their owners for decades now. The peace of mind that the fence gives the owner is well worth the cost of the fence, which is less than if you were to put an average fence around your yard. And these dogs are happier to play and frolic quite free in an open space than the dogs kept all day in a leash. Do yourself and your puppy a favor, and get an invisible fence for him or her to play around in. The buyers never regretted this acquisition.
