There are some who vehemently oppose the use of an electronic collar or shock collar believing that there are better behavioral techniques. I beg to differ. When regular obedience training is not effective the electronic collar can be the solution.  The electronic collar training can in fact save your pet’s life. 

Having trained many dogs successfully using standard training techniques, our family was given Miller, a hyper German Shorthair Pointer. With Miller nothing worked! Miller seemed to be impervious to the regular training techniques of reward and/or praise. He preferred to do his own thing. When Miller swam out 1/2 mile in 37* F water chasing the Canada Geese we decided it was time for the Tri-Tronics Pro 100 3G e collar.

Three days later an electronic training collar adorned his neck and he is now a changed dog. He now responds readily when called, walks well on his leash and no longer swims after the geese.  At 7 years old he still is a curious, spirited and lovable dog. Everyone has been amazed at Miller’s changed behavior.

Using the ecollar, other dog owners have experienced the same positive results. Having learned to listen and respond instantly to a command has saved many a dog’s life. Teaching garbage avoidance with the ecollar can avoid costly vet visits or nasty gastrointestinal disturbances. The reinforcement of previously learned commands makes life easier for both the pet and owner.

Electronic dog collars work very simply. The receiver attached to the collar has a battery which is attached to the probes and is activated by the remote. The probes on the collar receiver then transmit the tingling sensation to the dogs neck. The remote has a dial with increasing levels of sensation. Ours has 8 levels and rarely have we gone higher than 2. You want the sensation to just grab their attention.

A video and manual accompay the purchase of the Tri-Tronics ecollar. After purchase FIRST watch the video and read the manual. Using an ecollar is NOT the same as a standard collar. You don’t just throw on the collar and press buttons. Follow the instructions and you will have a successful training experience with your pet, and an obedient, well-trained pet. Happy training!
