THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

Some Teacup Chihuahua owner have trouble convincing their friends how warm, loyal, gentle, and friendly a Teacup Chihuahua is. That’s because this particular small dog breed, over time, grows particularly attached to its owner. This is to the point of having jealous streaks, and snapping at pets and people the Chihuahua is not familiar with.

Small, but intensely loyal to its owner

If you want a pet you’ll shower with attention, this breed is for you. If you think you can stuff this dog inside a small bag, you’re right - it’s only about nine inches tall and just about five pounds. Some pet owners live in an apartment and can’t handle the romp and rowdiness of a medium sized dog - a Chihuahua is just about perfect. As with any dog, too much barking can be a problem, it will give you an all-nighter you don’t need; thankfully Chihuahuas can be trained to avoid that.

Reconsider getting a Chihuahua is you’re used to calm dogs you can most of the time leave well enough alone - a Chihuahua will always crave attention. Over time, this little dog can read your emotions and come to your side just when you need it.

Some precautions - health care for the Chihuahua

Because of their size, Teacup Chihuahua’s can be overwhelmed physically. Knowing this, many Chihuahuas become aggressive, in a way to compensate for their size. But this aggression can be weeded out by socializing the pups early and often. This socialization is important so the dog can be accustomed to having other people and pets around.

You can get puppies from a breeder or an adult Chihuahua from a rescue organization, but you must be sure you can provide the time and devotion this breed needs. This breed can suffer from heart and tracheal disease, bladder stone, arthritis, and genetic disorders. Their bones are fragile and so they should be kept away from situations when they may be dropped, fall, be accidentally kicked, or jammed in doors.

If you have relatives or other people in your home, they must be informed about Chihuahua health care

It is possible for Chihuahuas to be agreeable with children and other pets, as this has been done with some Chihuahua training. But as has been said, that may need some early socializing of the dog, and not a few words with kids about treating the Chihuahua like a normal active rowdy dog that will around all day and eat anything.
