Reasons Why Dogs Throw Up
THIS IS AWESOME!
My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog.
Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches.

There is nothing unusual in dogs that vomit. Dog would heave and throw up the contents of the stomach and the intestines and still be its usual active self thus owners would not be concerned at the sight of the vomiting pet. Because of a huge appetite, dogs would not pass up the chance to eat spoiled food and non-edible substances. Too much eating as well as the habit of eating spoiled food and inedible substance can result to a spate of vomiting.
Dog owners would see the dog throwing up partially digested food, fluid as well as objects that are not supposed to be swallowed by the dog. Dog owners would just shrug the shoulders if the pet is seen vomiting partially digested food, plastic wrappers, bits of grass and even small toys. Dogs are indeed amazing as it would seem that they have a license to eat anything given that they can easily throw up anything rejected by their stomach. After a spate of vomiting, the dog will act as if nothing happened. The dog will be its normal active self and some instances, the dog will be seen eating what it has vomited.
Acute vomiting or a one-time expulsion of the contents of the stomach and the small intestine is usually caused by the dog’s dietary indiscretion. It is not surprising if dogs suffer from stomach upset that result to vomiting given its tendency to eat too much and to eat spoiled food and inedible substances. The introduction of a new diet can also make the dog vomit. Vomiting arising from this kind of situation would not require treatment. Pet parents would usually fast the pet for 24 hours to resolve its vomiting concern
The dog would certainly need medical attention if it vomits every now and then as in most cases, chronic vomiting is an indication of a medical concern. The dog’s dietary indiscretion would not be the cause of chronic vomiting. Throwing up can be a symptom of pancreatitis, peritonitis, as well as liver and kidney disease. Vomiting can be a sign of intestinal parasite infestation or intestinal cancer.
The dog’s vomiting episodes have to be stopped as it can result to dehydration. To stop the dog from throwing up anti emetic medication is administered. Chronic vomiting is a symptom and not a disease in itself. The underlying cause of the dog’s condition has to be established before the right treatment can be given. Chronic vomiting entails urgent medical attention. The dog will have to undergo a full clinical examination before the right treatment that would resolve the dog’s health concern can be administered.
