THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

“Hong Dong” is Chinese for “Big Splash”. It is also the name of the world’s most expensive dog, an eleven months old Red Tibetan Mastiff puppy. Sold to a Chinese coal tycoon, this extremely rare Asian dog is already weighing in at respectable 12.9 stones or 82 kilos .

The high price of 10 million Yuan or about £945000 is expected to yield a healthy return for the undisclosed coal magnate who can charge other breeders up to 100 000 yuan per shot considering “Hong Dong” is considered almost a perfect specimen for his race, making him an excellent breeding dog.

The almost-impossible-to-believe price is also a result of the extreme rarity of this particular breed. Red Tibetan Mastiffs are considered to be one of the purest breed, being one of the oldest breeds in China.Less than 20 pure breed specimens are thought to be remaining in Tibet, which means breeders can put quite a hefty price tag on these big dogs.

What constitutes a rare dog or rare breed differs somewhat between countries, but it is clear that the numbers are increasing after many years of decline, {largely, mainly} due to the Internet helping breeders around the world to connect with each other. This is, of course, a very positive development and today there are over 200 species of rare dogs around the world spanning from the Alaskan Klee Kai to the Moscow Longhaired Toy Terrier.

Unique dog breeds are normally sold at a high price than other breeds, but the record in China is probably likely to remain for quite some time. Though rare dogs sometimes are expensive, as well as worth a lot of money to their owners, it takes an ongoing hype like the one in China to push the prizes up to these recent levels. It is worth noticing that the previous record holder was also a Red Tibetan Mastiff, indicating the hype may be limited only to these particular rare dogs.
