THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

For some reason, poodle owners tend to not understand this. In the event I told you that you cannot talk unless absolutely required, imagine how you would react to that. Imagine your parent doing that to you when you were a kid. Im sure that will really tick you off.

Your barking poodle also feels the same when you just don’t want it to bark. As a poodle owner, you need to understand that poodles have a voice. They are social beings and they need and want to communicate. And when they want to do that, you should not expect them to do it in English… or any other language you speak!

So you must be thinking of all the reason’s your a poodle will bark? That’s just like asking a human “why do you want to talk”… that said your poodle will bark when it needs to do its business, is hungry, alarmed, feels insecure, is bored or lonely, etc… When it comes to poodles though, that would occur largely when it wants to communicate with you.

You only need to worry if the barking is not due to reasons above and is actually unwarranted. If it’s due to aggression, it may lead to poodle biting which you do not want as an owner. Once you have determined that your poodle barks in unwarranted situations, you need to take active steps to insure obedience.

It is common to find the poodle barking its owner into something they dont want by way of excessive barking. An example could be the poodle making you play with it when you do not want to. Situations such as these are when you need to start thinking seriously about training your poodle so that it behaves. Establishing yourself as the alpha leader of the pack will do that and your poodle will recognize your auhtority.
