Puppies learn to pee, potty, nurse, and bite. Throughout their eighth week, puppies begin to play and that is often through biting.~When they reach their second month of age, they embark on to play with anything. And you can say he is playing with you when he bites you. Even their legs are still weak frail fragile puny, they cannot be disturb from doing it. Puppies are playful to their co-animals and often drag them to do it. Since your young pet dog has no competence to speak and can only do less number of activities, they often seek attention and play with people in strange manners through licking or biting us.
The puppy easily learn and he often obtain the behavior from his surroundings. So it is predictable to see your puppy little less disciplined if he came from a pet store. But the behavior is normal and you should not be seriously bothered by this. Like people, they also perceive things but they do it in a slightly dissimilar manner. They taste the object, smell it, and feel the texture through their limbs.
However, in time, if the puppy turns to adult and still has the behavior of biting other animals and people, ooh… Something on his housebreaking is wrong. Your young doggie has those sharp teeth which may injure other creature or break the items that he can reach inside your house. But, this can be remedy at an early stage. Puppy Housebreaking Tips
How Can This Be Done?
Pets are toys for little small children. Warn your children about the biting behavior of your puppy. Tell them that when it bites, they should stop what they are doing and leave the puppy. Puppies don’t want to feel alone and will stop the act if they sense to be left solo.
Give him something for his teeth. Rubber toys for his teeth are widely available, or anything chewable will also do. When picking toys for a pet, always take into consideration the safety it would assure for your puppy. It’s a recognized teeth exercise and could save your money from buying new decors just to replace what he tore.
Your hand is not intended for a puppy to bite on. It is fine to reward him with cookies and biscuits, but never your hand. But if it comes to him to purposely bite it, shout like you are in pain. Make him learn that biting is not always a plaything. Let him understand when to play and when not to do it.
A sport that needs pulling with your puppy is not good. You’re just doing your duty more difficult. You are inciting him to bite! You should not keep doing it because he might think that biting is okay.
A friend of mine is doing this trick and you can do this, too. He would make a sound something to surprise the dog while its mouth is at his skin. Now his attention is to what had just happened and will lift his face up looking at you. The moment he turns his head up, immediately put a toy or food on his mouth. At last, the teeth are now busy in chewing and has forgotten what he was doing to you.
More people are afraid of dogs because we all know that dogs bite. Hence, as dog breeders we are not fully in peace when we hear one of our neighbors has been bitten by a dog. The tricks are very effortless and easy to teach. The success of your puppy’s learning depends on the patience and persistence you are willing to spend for him.
