The first steps to learning how to train a chihuahua are to get a healthy measure of courage about you, plenty of patience plus a large bag of treats. Chihuahuas are generally quite intelligent and inquisitive dogs by nature, therefore training them will provide the physical and mental stimulation they seek. Nevertheless, because they’re equally as spirited as they are intelligent, they can easily manipulate the situation causing you to be the one being trained.

Chihuahuas tend to be fiercely protective of their housemates and property causing them to view everything as a danger. They could be barking as a warning for the intruders to stay away and a good stern “No!” will usually be enough in this particular situation.

It’s a futile attempt to shout at them when they are barking simply because the sudden loud noise could trigger them to bark more. One of the very best things concerning chihuahuas is they usually do not bark just to be barking, there is always a reason for it.
