Anybody who has had an opportunity to have a dog would attest to the fact that these animals are truly wonderful companions. Dogs would always be man’s loyal and devoted friends that would always be willing to do various task to please the human family. These wonderful animals though would be a huge responsibility. Caring for a puppy is just like caring for a baby. Remember, a dog will entirely depend on its owner for their dietary, health and social needs. A dog would mean an added burden to a family with a tight budget. For a busy person, a dog will eat a considerable amount of time. If you have decided to get a dog for a pet it is assumed that you have considered providing the pet with all its needs.
High quality nutrient rich food equals fit and healthy pet. Poor quality dog food may be inexpensive but should not be made a part of this equation as it would deliver a negative effect on the health of the pet. Good quality dog food may cost a little more but these foods contain all the essential vitamins and minerals that will guarantee the dog’s proper growth. Dogs are happy eaters and doting pet owners may not be able to resist the pleading looks of the pet. A well meaning owner will provide the dog too much food but this can result to obesity that can cause a number of canine diseases.
Dogs are very active animals. Your pet is expected to have high exercise requirements. A dog owner has to make sure that the pet is provided with regular exercise. An owner can take the dog walking everyday but a trip to the local dog park would be more beneficial as it will give the dog a chance to socialize with other dogs.
Grooming is another essential element of caring for a dog. Dogs are considered as family members thus they are cuddled, kissed, petted and allowed to sleep with the family. Grooming that includes bathing, teeth and ear cleaning and coat brushing will not only enhance the appearance of the pet. Grooming sessions are good bonding moments that will make you aware of any injuries or parasite infestation that can develop into a serious medical condition. Veterinary care is an important part of pet care that is often neglected by pet owners. Although vet consultation fees can be an additional burden on the finances of the family these regular checkups are necessary in having a healthy pet.
Your pet needs socialization and obedience training to be good canine citizens. Dogs that have undergone obedience training will be well mannered, an indication of the kind of care given by the owner.
