Dogs have a common tendency to scratch their bodies and many dogs do it as an idle recreation. some times scratching for long term may become a disease and the causes must be identified in the initial stage it self.

the dogs may scratch for long time by itself due to many reasons. one of the most common reason for the dog to scratch is the parasite attach known as flea. Along with this, mites, gnats and ticks can also be the cause behind which a dog scratches itself during the months of summer. it is possible to control the parasites by giving some proper medicines.

dogs may also get affected by some infection like hair loss which happens in some cases due to red patch and greasy sore as a result of infection caused by fugues, yeast or bacteria.

The environment around the dog can also be the reason for which the dog is suffering from itchy problems. Also if the dog is having different allergies, it can have skin irritation. An improper nutritional diet can also lead to dog scratching.

it is best and suggestible to take the dog to a veterinarian. Some proper treatments for itchy dogs include a dose of antibiotics and antifungal creams for the treatment of skin infections. the proper treatment method would also include some changes in the diet.

the neurogenic scratching in dogs cannot be treated and this becomes the major problem for many dogs. The problem being mental, the dog is sometimes nervous or anxious and this leads to the development of sores. the main reason for the neurogenic scratch in dogs is because they get bored more. this may lead the habit of licking, chewing and also scratching. In this case, the dog needs to be stimulated to ensure that it is not bored. Taking them for a stroll and playing with them works out well in this case.

There are other methods of training the dog so that it stops its habit.Spraying bitter apple or using a cone suggested by the vet to the wounded area can stop the dog from scratching the particular place and this in turn would stop the sore from further development and thereby reduce the habit of the dog from scratching itself.

As a conclusive method, consulting with the vet regarding differ range of ideas and suggestions would help in proper and healthy treatment of dog scratching. and at the same time doing the diagnosis at the early stage will be very help full to stop any such kind of scratching disorders in dogs.
