THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

Our homes are often the last place where we expect to find hazards to children. Although we take extra precautions to ensure that our children are safe when they go off to school on the playground and pool, we often take our homes as a safe place - a place protected by locks, alarm systems and even a family dog. Even the diffident kind of dog breeds get wild with being messed around by small children.

It was rather one of the most horryfying experiences for a family in San Diego to find their infant lifeless. In the early hours of Saturday, July 31 to August 1, 2010 while his mother slept, a boy, two years, was bitten by the family German shepherd. The boy was pronounced dead the minute he reached the emergency room at Rady Children’s Hospital. The boy’s father, who is in the army, was repatriated when the attack occurred.

Most of the children are exposed to dog bites. All years about 4.5 million Americans are victims of dog attacks. Injuries caused by a dog attack sends 800,000 Americans to hospital each year. Children account for half of that number, with 386,000 cases that require urgent medical attention and 16 die from their injuries by bites. Children in the ages between 5 and 9 are more susceptible. Injuries to the head and neck are more likely if the child is 4 years old. Boys are more susceptible to dog bites than girls.

One should train their dog to mingle with everyone no matter whatever breed it is so as to minimize the dog attack. Wrestling or playing tug of war with the dog will learn his aggressive tendencies and therefore should be avoided. On the contrary one should teach the dog to be obedient and leave the toys and food holding in the mouth without grouling.

Irrespective of the kind of dog strain you have even if it is a puppy it is not advisable to leave kids and young ones near them. Children are often less receptive to the signs that a dog can give when he wants to be left alone or is embarrassed, like when a dog growls or shows his teeth.

When older children go off to school or playing, they should always avoid strange dogs. In case they are faced with some dog types, even puppies, they should avoid eye contact. Instead of running or screaming, they should remain motionless loud noises and rapid movements may provoke the dog. In the event they are attacked and brought to the ground by the dog, they should roll into a ball and remain motionless. There has to be immdeiate medical attention given.

Dog attacks can happen anywhere - even in our own homes. There are so many hundreds of children that are facing attacks from dogs each year.   Find more articles on dog breeds and dog breed list.
