Puppy mills are a facility that gets dissented by by many dog lovers. Puppy mills are large commercialized dog breeding installations. According to animal activists, these places run under sub-standards that are not perpetually healthy for dogs. Puppy mills often work with a profit base.

Dogs from puppy mills are often traumatized and sad due to the bad experiences they have at puppy mills. The common unfavorable judgments of puppy mills are that they operate in low facility, unfavorable and inappropriate places such as abandoned buildings. Moreover, puppies from puppy mills are most often under fed and not properly taken care of.

Some puppy mills are not registered places for holding and breeding puppies and these places most often neglect puppy vaccinations and other medical needs. Most importantly, these puppies may be in psychological stress or in depression and they may be damaged by the time you buy them off a puppy mill.

Many dog families are kept together until puppies are sold out to people. At that point the dogs may be affected psychologically in to a condition something like separation anxiety. Therefore, the puppy you bring home may not be normal in its behavior and in temperament for some time.

So if you are getting a puppy from a puppy mill, it is advisable that you purchase them right after (few days down the line) their birth. You should also make sure that the puppy does not have skin rashes and does not suffer from any respiratory disease as these conditions are common among puppies born at puppy mills.

Although puppy mills are not the most healthiest environment in which a puppy can be bought from, many people find it difficult to find decent puppies from elsewhere unless a dog breeder is personally known to the aspiring owner. Additionally, other dog owners will have to give the consent to breed their dogs and then give away the puppies for one to be able to own a new puppy. So you should always bear in mind that while puppy mills readily sell puppies, there are risks associated with it and although you may like to find a puppy from another means, it may not always be easy.
