Crate training is an effective method to home practice your Yorkshire Terrier. It works by confining your canine if you are not actively supervising him, serving to him to learn to regulate his bladder and bowel actions and establishing a potty routine.

The reason it’s effective is that it takes advantage of their pure den instinct. In the wild, dogs use their den as a safe place to relaxation, sleep, and lift their younger, and have a natural intuition to avoid soiling their den. Once they get used to their crate, it becomes their den.

The crate should be only large enough for them to stand up, turn around and to sleep comfortably. If you’re coaching a puppy, you will probably want to select one that’s large sufficient for an adult canine, and put in dividers to make it a suitable size for the puppy. Make it snug by placing their bedding inside, and if you are using a wire crate, place a towel or blanket over the top to make it feel safer and safe.

Place it in a corner of the living room, so your Yorkie is not going to really feel isolated, and at night, transfer it into your bedroom. Your terrier will really feel more secure sleeping close to you, and you will be able to listen to him if he needs to be let exterior to potty.
