When you come home with a cute little baby poodle, you’re very excited to have it as a part of your family and to shower it with love and affection. But until it is housebroken, you also have the nagging feeling that you will need to clean after it to keep your home clean. Poodle housebreaking is probably the first training you are going to have to impart on your newest member of the family.

It is a good thing that poodles like to keeps their homes clean and are very neat animals. Therefore its very easy to train them on not to do their business indoors. There are many ways to housebreak a poodle. Crate training is perhaps one of the best methods to housebreak a poodle. Many people would disagree with this, saying that it is inhumane to keep the poodle caged and locked up like that. What is important to comprehend is the fact that your poodle percieves the crate very differently than you. Your poodle does not feel caged inside a crate. On the contrary, it begins to think of the crate as a place where it can relax and so it does nto like to dirty the place. Eventually, with proper crate training, she will also begin to understand that the entire house is nowhere she should unload.

Some times, poodle owners discourage their barking poodles when they need to excrete urgently and need to be outdoors to do it. Barking is not always a bad thing. In a scenario like this one, its actually a good thing because teh dog is positively communicating to you that it needs to go out so taht it can excrete in its designtaed place, much like a small child telling you it needs to go to the toilet. Let your dog bark it out as long as it is not wilful and unwarranted. If you are having trouble housebreaking your poodle, then you might want to do some in depth reading on this subject or perhaps consult a professional dog trainer.
