THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

Excessive Dog Barking

Excessive Dog Barking

Most dogs will need an occasional bath given their aptness for going through almost every convenient mud puddle. The underside of the low-slung body (like the basset hound’s) attracts dirt like a lure as the dog splashes by rain puddles or slush. When I bring my dog to shows, I become more entertained seeing my fellow dog owners with their dogs carried on their shoulders, that are weighing about sixty to seventy pounds, well-groomed and all those owners  would do is let their dogs to splash their fine-furred body in the mud. By the time the judge examined the dogs, their pets were no cleaner than mine, who had waded through the water to reach the ring.

When it’s bath time put on your oldest clothes and/or a waterproof grooming apron, and get out lots of towels. Just keep those linens in the closet. You can find cheap but great alternatives through visiting garage sales. You won’t be needing just one towel. Be generous in throwing towels on the bathroom floor as well as in the crate where the dog will be put to dry. After you have arranged all these preparations, then it is time for the doggie to take a good bath. You can do the job alone by this simple technique: Let his front feet push on the edge of the tub (if he’s using one). Raise his body with your hand on his chest to his support his front. If you have aid available, one person can pick up the front extremity while the other lifts the rear to place the dog gently in the tub.

Prevent Dog Barking

A spray nozzle connected to the faucet makes it easy to wet the dog down thoroughly. If you do not have it at home, you can use any open plastic container or cup. Do not use glass. If your dog shakes suddenly, you might lose control of holding the glass and it could hurt your dog. You can also use a grooming noose that is attached on the wall right over the tub. You can avail one from any pet supply shops if you don’t have one. It helps you to make your dog under manage at the same instance enjoying the bath.

Choose a good kind of shampoo. My favorite is a citrus shampoo because it will kill fleas without disclosing the dog to potentially harmful chemicals, and yet it smells good and does effective cleansing job. Other variances of shampoo are usable. You can acquire one that emphasize his coat color. If he is coated of much white fur, there is a whitening shampoo that you can use to his feet and chin. For dog skin problems, vets usually usually suggest a medicated shampoo that cures itch and rashes. Somehow, the shampoo decisions still depend of what your dog needs.

For a puppy, make sure the shampoo is mild enough not to damage his skin or coat. Observe the risks shampoos could produce so you must thoroughly read the label before buying any.

Two soaping followed by thorough rinsing will clean the average dog. Additional cleansing products for the dogs are produced like conditioners, rinsers, and coat products. But not all these can benefit the dog. What he might need, however, is nonchemical “odor-eater” in the rinse water to remove the hound smell.

While your pet is in the tub be certain and clean the ears and check for any ticks that may have attached themselves to him. Favorite hiding spots are in and round the ears and between toes.

Drying off the dog can be the last thing you will do when bathing a dog. But if you have more equipments that concern his grooming and if the weather goes with you, there are still oher options you can make. On a warm, sunny day, it is possible to take your dog outside to run around and dry off. Take him away from the mud. Otherwise, you’re going to take more time to send him to shower again. You can dry off your dog inside if you see the weather will likely be unfriendly. It is possible to encourage the drying process by using a hairdryer if you don’t own a regular heavy-duty dog dryer: Or, lacking even that spread towels in the crate and bed your dog down until he’s dry.

If you do not want to see a pool of doggie hair around the floor, always treat him with a decent bath and dry him off well to prevent the loose coat to fall out. Massage the dog with a hound golve or curry comb to scrape away the old, worn coat and skin. This is also is the appropriate time to take care of nails and general foot hygiene.
