THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

Successful golden retriever training is not that hard to reach. Although positive training is often effective when training golden retrievers, an owner can go for other options if he sees the need to do so. There are also a lot of training tools to make training easy. While the price of some of these tools can create a hole in your pocket, be aware that you never have to procure each and every dog training tool out there. Just get what you need and you will be fine.

The following are some tips to help you decide what tools to prioritize:

Collars and Leash.
These two are not only the most common but the most important too. The collar, where the leash is connected, is put around the dog’s neck. It is best for controlling the dog while in training however, care has to be taken when using it since improper use may cause injuries. The leash on the other hand gives you better control over your dog even if you’re a few feet away. Use a durable 6-foot nylon leash, not a retractable one, during training.

Treats.
Tasty food treats are used as bait and reward. Whenever you reward your dog for doing something desired, you are increasing the odds of that certain behavior being exhibited again. Treats could be tiny bits of kibble, cheese or hotdog, bone marrows with fillings, or raw hides. Treats however should not replace his regular dog food.

Clicker.
Made of a small plastic and metal object that sounds if you press on it, the clicker is probably one of the easiest and most advised golden retriever training tools. It works by making a “click” sound for every good behavior exhibited. It is then followed by a treat or praise. This particular tool is effective because it gives you the chance to acknowledge your dog’s good behavior soon after he did it.

With correct use, these tools will certainly help you attain your goal of having a satisfactorily trained golden retriever.
