Five Tips For Stopping A Dog From Jumping Up On People
THIS IS AWESOME!
My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog.
Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches.

If your dog jumps up on you or others, you need to put an end to this dog behavior problem quickly. If he jumps on someone, and knocks them down, causing injuries, you could be facing a lawsuit. Fortunately, this behavior is pretty easy to control.Solve this problem right away with these five dog obedience tips.
1. Keep The Excitement Level Down When You Come Home
Your pup is probably so happy to see you when you get home that he’s joyfully leaping around, and jumping up on you.A jumping dog is not something you want to encourage, so you’ll need to put an end to it immediately.
When you get home, ignore him for at least fifteen minutes. If he jumps on you or bothers you during this time, make a loud noise (shake a can that has pebbles in it) or squirt him with a water gun. This will startle him. He’ll learn quickly that this happens every time he jumps, so he’ll stop doing it.
You’ll want to do this if you have visitors, too. It’s best to wait at least fifteen minutes before you greet him whenever you come home.
2. Avoid Rough Housing With Your Dog
It’s not a good idea to play rough with your pup. “Challenge” games like wrestling or tug-of-war can lead to all manner of dog behavior problems, including dominant dog issues. If your dog jumps on you during play, he’ll think it’s OK to do it any time he wants.
3. Teach Him To “Sit!”
This basic command should be one of the first ones you teach a new puppy. When you tell him to “sit,” he should do it immediately, before he even considers jumping on you. In fact, this is one of the best ways to avoid the problem of a jumping dog.
If he doesn’t know this command, teaching him this is your first job. Reinforce it in every interaction with your pet, from feeding him, to putting on his leash, to greeting new people on walks.Once he knows this command by heart, you may find that the jumping problems are over.
4. Interact With Him At His Level
Crouch down when you greet him. This tactic prevents your dog from jumping up on you. Anytime you pet or cuddle him, get down on his level to do it. If he jumps, say “OFF!”
5. Teaching The “Off!” Command
This is another basic command that is much easier to teach to a new puppy. When he jumps on a person, or on the furniture, you immediately say “Off!” very firmly. Snarl at him, showing him your teeth, but don’t growl. Look him right in the eye.
This is how mama told him to stop whatever he was doing. And it’s a message your dog will definitely understand.
You’ll need to repeat this lesson until he gets off immediately when you tell him to.Remember that everyone in your home should use the “Off!” command as well. Consistency is one of the most important aspects of training your dog.
