Dog Behavior Advice

Books aren’t always a good source of information for helping you have your pet on its best behavior. Good pet advice is simple and practical – it doesn’t have to sound like a fancy diagram. Nothing speaks better than direct experience. You and your pet are on a journey of understanding one another, and along the way you learn about each other.

Any dog owners who have dogs that are in good behavior will tell you that a crucial factor in getting its respect is to make sure it understands that you are its boss. If your dog fails to realize that you are the alpha, the leader or its master, it will reject your commands and give it more reason to misbehave around you. Remember, your dog must earn your respect; it isn’t your job to wait to wait for it – it waits for you.

A dog’s behavior is sometimes made up by its stomach. A hungry pet is a sad pet – learn to feed your pet daily and at-least three times a day. If your pet is biting down on your table’s leg or eating its own feces – it might be because you haven’t fed it enough to keep it happy. Over feeding it has an opposing yet more dangerous effect to it, not only does it gain weight faster but also lose your respect in the process.

Behavior problems sometimes come from improper training. It is advised to keep your pet mentally as well as physically fit.  Training not only gives your pet a reason to run around and have fun, but it also maintenance its obedience. If it’s been a long time that you’ve commanded your pet to fetch your newspaper or go after a stick, then go outside and try. A few half hour sessions a weak won’t hurt either.

Maintenance is an important piece of advice in keeping your pet in its best behavior. It’s a balance of respect and friendship that you must keep from tipping. You might end up scaring your pet if you’re too commanding towards it or might spoil it if you keep on showering it with too much attention.
