For a dog lover, keeping a canine friend for a long time is of the essence and if you’re one, I have no doubt that you would do absolutely everything that you can to make sure that this happens. One of the most important factors that contribute to a dog’s life or longevity is nutrition and it is in fact one of the few ones you actually have complete control over. This is why you should be cautious about serving your dogs just any food, especially processed ones. You should get yourself educated about what actually goes into those kinds of food. You owe it to your dog since it relies on you heavily for its sustenance as much as you rely on it for loyalty and companionship.
Dog Food Secrets by Andrew Lewis is a no holds barred take on the dog food industry and how companies, including and especially big ones, have managed to put the most disgusting things (including decaying carcasses of animals that, yes, do include dogs; plastics; road kill; and poison, among others) into our pets’ food and sell them with every intention to deceive us of the products’ nutritional value. How they managed to put all those in there is detailed in the book which I, needless to say, strongly recommend you get. Hard as it may be to believe the bold words I’ve thrown in there, they are true and what better way to confirm this than to actually read the book.
If you choose to continue feeding your dog with these toxic dog food, be prepared to see it suffer one or more of the following ailments: weak or deformed bones, chronic skin and ear infections, chronic flea and worm infestations, an impaired ability to heal from wounds, kidney failure, liver failure, immune system collapse, epilepsy, cancer and even behavioral alterations like aggression that makes dog unsafe around children. And these are just some of the effects. On a side note, if you’re having aggression or other behavioral problems with your dog and you’ve ruled out toxic dog food as a culprit because you feed it homemade meals, check out this great dog training reference: Secrets to Dog Training (SitStayFetch) by Daniel Stevens.
Now going back to food, the good news is there are ways for you to identify if a certain dog food is going to be poisonous to your dog. One of which is that you learn how to read labels.. Be wary of dog food or treats that list “animal sources” as an ingredient because legally they can put any animal in there. There are other products that are specific with their animal sources and put “chicken” or “beef” in their labels. That means as long as the contents of the product contain yields from the claimed sources, the brand is following the rules. It has to be emphasized though that this qualification can include the specified animal’s dung, carcasses, diseased meat and unusual organs, among others. This is why if you want to be 100% sure that you get no less than quality components in your pet’s food, they should have the label “human grade ingredients”. There are still more tricks you have to learn about reading labels so make sure you read SitStayFetch Review at ReviewMOZ.org.
