The first step in buying a purebred Havanese puppy is to decide from which breeder you are going to purchase it. You go to see the dogs for the first time, and you look down at four or five of the cutest little creatures you’ve ever seen. How in the world are you going to decide which one to take home and which ones to leave behind? It will be a very tough decision, and you will surely finding yourself wishing you could just keep them all. Reading this article, you will find some help to choosing the most appropriate pet for you.

To help you make your choice, the best tool you have is your eyes. And look at the Havanese puppies carefully, observe them with attention, each one of them and all of them. Stay there and watch them for as long as you are allowed to by the owner. Get to know each of the dogs as best you can. Observe their behavior when they are alone and when they are in the group. You will collect the most important information from watching them, all you need more is how to interpret these information.

Realize that while you’re putting a lot of thought into this decision, the breeder has done the same thing. He knows which ones are going to get chosen, and he will have them priced accordingly. Don’t be surprised if there is quite a difference in the price from one dog to the next in the same litter. The rules of supply and demand dictate how much the breeder is going to want to charge you for each dog.

It is important to keep in mind the purpose for which you are buying a Havanese. It is a big difference in the characteristics you have to look for if either you want a dog for shows or to breed, or you just want a great friend and a loveable pet.

If you want a show dog or breeder, you’re going to want to find the pick of the litter, by conventional standards. You must choose the healthiest, stockiest dog in the bunch. In a pack, this dog would be the alpha male or female. He will have the shiniest coat and often behave as if he is in control. He is the one you want if you are going to win competitions and stud him out.

If you want a female to breed, the same rules apply. The size of her body should be larger then others and the coat should be solid-colored and shiny. This will be the dog that will turn out to have the best Havanese puppies that will bring the highest prices.

If you are not looking for a show dog and just want a great little pet, then your decision is much easier. What you should consider is different. Just play with the dogs, and choose the one you have the most fun with. It’s that simple!.
