A loving dog owner would share whatever food is eaten with the pet. A responsible owner would make sure that the human food is safe before giving it to the pet. Apples are perfectly safe for humans but can the fruit poison the dog? Can the dog derive the same benefits humans get from eating apples?
Dogs love eating apples. The phytonutrients these juicy fruits contain can prevent the occurrence of some types of cancer. Vitamins A and C and the dietary fiber can be gained by the dog from these fruits. Hip dysplasia is a common ailment of dogs and the vitamins C in this fruit is believed to prevent the development of this ailment. Apples are good sources of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. The inclusion of this fruit in the dog’s diet would not only prevent some kind of illness but also promote the good condition of the coat as well as prevent the occurrence of skin allergies.
To keep the vet away, give the dog an apple a day. Many dog owners have proven the healthful benefits of this fruit to dogs. Some dogs owners though that have heard about the dangerous effects of apples on dogs would prevent the pet from eating these luscious fruits. Dogs are well loved pets thus it is only natural for pet parents to be concerned with foods that can harm the pet. Should you or should you not give the pet this treat?
You can give the dog apples but be sure that the pet would not gorge on the fruit. You can give the pet apples but be sure to remove the seeds first. Apple seed contain amygdlin, a cyanide form which is highly toxic to all living things . This substance is highly dangerous to dogs as it hampers the blood’s function of carrying oxygen to all parts of the body. Regular consumption of small amounts of this substance can damage the lining of the dog’s intestines.
Consumption of large amounts of apples will cause stomach upset so that the dog can suffer from diarrhea. Apples contain naturally occurring sugar. Naturally occuring sugar is different from the processed sugar found in dogs treats. Nevertheless, consumption of large quantities of apples can still result to the obesity of the dog.
Dogs would get loads of healthful benefits from this crunchy sweet fruit but owners have to ensure that the apples are cored and that the dog would not be given free access to the fruit so that it would not overeat.
