Tartan Dog collars are slowly gaining popularity among pet owners. There are many of those made for specific holidays, a handful are personalized; some are floral, striped, etc. But perhaps a Plaid Tartan Dog Collar is the most sought after pet accessory nowadays.

Tartan is defined as a pattern which comprises of crisscrossed or interwoven vertical and horizontal lines in various colors.Previously, it is popularly used for woven cloths, however as time passed all kinds of other materials slowly used tartan. Scottish kilts almost always had tartan patterns, that‘s the reason why it has been connected to Scotland. But because of its overall look and appeal more and more fabric designers and makers are already using it. In America, it’s commonly generally known as plaid. These colors are believed to denote or symbolize something. Blue ones symbolize the bodies of water such as the river or the lake, green brings together the forest or the grasslands while yellow symbolizes the crops. As for the red ones, they were believed to have been produced in order to worn by soldiers to ensure that blood stains would not be very noticeable; probably the main reason why it is known as battle tartan.

But due to the pattern’s general appeal pet accessories manufacturers used the design with their products. Tartan collar, lanyard, lead or leash are undeniably appealing. That’s in all probability one reason most dog lovers choose this style. It can also be considered a most appropriate gift for the holiday season.

These cute dog collars can be bought in local pet accessories shop in the area or online. While shopping there are things that one must consider. First, the neck size of the dog is very critical. When buying for your friend’s pet, it might be essential to purchase a collar that’s adjustable. Second, look for materials that are washable or if the collar has a metal attached to it, make sure that they are rust-proof. Third, the snaps or locks should be secure for your canine. Fourth, it needs to be made from durable materials so that you are 100 percent confident that it can withstand chew damages. Fifth, if the cost of the merchandise that you’re buying matters, have patience in searching for on sale goods or those that will offer discounts or those that are sold in sets. In conclusion, select a collar that will help compliment the looks or the breed of any pet.

Holiday season is just around the corner, and indeed one great way to make your dog fashionable is by buying him or her a tartan collar. Although red and green are the colors of the season, it may also be fun to experiment and have all of them wear yellow or blue ones. Decide on something which will not only enhance their adorability, but also, something which is comfy to wear. This way you’re pet will not only look hip and in style, it can also be a way of letting them feel that they taken cared of and well-loved. Furthermore, there’s no greater way to reward your “best friend” for doing an excellent job but by getting a present that they truly deserves.

A well-train dog sometimes leads a happier and healthier life and its owner additionally can get pleasure from a trouble-free life long companion. Dog training - basic obedience, house and potty training are so essential and vital to a dog’s education.

The conventional methodology of dog coaching tips and guide would be to list a series of things that you should “Do” and you may even understand the A-Z of dog coaching! But generally what ought to be done will be said best by telling what ought to not be done. Hope you agree with me!

This text seeks to list eighteen “Don’t” once you train your dog. The explanations for the don’ts will become evident as the teachings continue and each one is based upon the distinctive psychology of the dog’s mind.

1. Do not punish your dog while you are angry or lack control of yourself.

2. Do not punish your dog with the lead or any instrument of coaching or something he ought to go along with duty or pleasure.

3. DON’T sneak up on your dog or grab him from the rear.

4. Do not chase your dog to catch him; he should come back to you or run once you.

5. Do not coax your dog to you and then flip upon him with the whip. You may regret the deception.

6. Do not trick or fool or taunt your dog. It’s cruel and inconsistent to tease your dog to come back to you when he can not.

7. Do not punish a dog by stepping on his paws needlessly. They are exceedingly sensitive. Do not twist his ears playfully or otherwise. Never strike him on the backbone, in the face or on the ears.

8. DON’T grab your dog or reach for him quickly. He should never fear his master, should not be created nervous by his master, and ought to feel that punishment given is deserved.

9. Do not nag your dog; don’t be giving orders to him constantly; don’t pester him along with your shoutings.

10. DON’T praise a dog for doing a certain act, then at a later time, scold him for doing the identical act. If you permit him to bite your toes nowadays and assume it fun, do not strike him for doing it tomorrow, when you’re not in smart humor. Consistency could be a chief virtue in dog training.

11. Do not train your dog immediately or soon after he has eaten.

12. DON’T lose patience with a puppy younger than six months. Never throw or kick a puppy nor elevate him by the top or leg or skin of the neck.

13. DON’T train him in feats requiring much strength or endurance until he is at least six months old.

14. DON’T work your dog while not some short rest or play periods during training. A five-minute rest for every fifteen minutes of training is desirable.

15. Do not permit everyone to convey commands to your dog. Whereas you’re coaching him, he should be a one-man dog, relying on you alone to feed him and care for him.

16. Do not take into account tricks the chief finish or the chief half of training. Usefulness is the item sought in all instruction of the dog. Acts that spring naturally from the dog’s instincts are to be fostered.

17. Do not expect your dog to be a wonderful dog once some weeks of coaching; four months to a year could be necessary so as to create the master proud of him, but the work is worth the effort. Coaching never ends.

18. DON’T jump to the conclusion that your dog is dumb. He may differ with you believing {that the} trainer should know more than the dog.

To end, attempt to remember these 18 Don’ts rules, fancy training your dog and most importantly have heaps of fun along the method!

Owning a dog is one of the most rewarding experiences a person can enjoy. The bond between owner and pet grows over the course of years, and strengthens with time. Many owners even consider their canines to be an extension of their family. And those who remain single find a lasting companionship with their pooch that is irreplaceable.

That being said, canines can develop bad habits that drive their owners crazy. It’s worth noting that nearly all such issues can be resolved through desensitization training and positive reinforcement of acceptable behaviors. In this article, we’ll provide an overview of 4 common canine problems that can leave you growling in frustration.

Tip 1 - Digging

Your pooch might start digging for many reasons. Boredom can leave him looking for ways to entertain himself. The bugs and roots he can discover by digging up the dirt will provide him with a distraction. He might also dig if the weather is making him hot and he lacks shade. The uncovered dirt will cool and sooth him. And of course, he might dig in order to hide bones and other possessions.

Tip 2 - Soiling

Puppies will urinate and defecate in inappropriate places until they are properly housebroken. That is expected. However, older dogs will occasionally do the same, even after having been successfully housebroken in the past. Sometimes, it occurs as a result of feelings of anxiety. Other times, it’s done to mark territory (acceptable when done outdoors). Still other times, adult canines do it as a submissive trait.

Tip3 - Jumping On People

Jumping is often misinterpreted by owners as an excited greeting their dogs give them. In truth, it can also be seen as an act of dominance.

When your dog was a little puppy, he likely jumped on siblings and mother until he learned from experience that doing so was no longer tolarated. If you adopt your dog a few weeks after he is born and fail to curb the behavior, it can become problematic. If you do not take steps to modify his behavior, he might gradually infer that his place in the pack (i.e. your household) is the same as your own. That makes curbing his jumping even more difficult.

Tip 4 - Excessive Barking

Every dog barks. Aside from whining or howling, it’s the only way they can audibly express their emotions to those surrounding them. However, if barking becomes constant or excessive, if can quickly become an issue - for you and your neighbors.

It’s important to understand the reasons your canine barks. He might do it to warn intruders away from his territory. He might do it to get your attention. He might also bark out of sheer boredom, barking give him something to do. While it can be nerve-wracking, excessive barking can be resolved with training and patience.

The companionship you enjoy from your dog will last throughout his life. Even though he may develop behavioral issues that can drive you crazy, those behaviors can be modified with the right approach. And that keeps the friendship you share with one another alive.

We have a tendency to all love our dogs and want to provide them the most effective life must offer. However with so many variations of dog food in the market, it isn’t continually simple to identify the best food for our dog. Who will presumably feel assured when thus many brands trumpet buzzwords that hit the human aisles not way back, like “rich in antioxidants,” “highly digestible,” “Omega-three fatty acids” and “Ultra Premium Formula”?

What we will do, though, is to conduct a easy dog food comparison to work out which foods best fit our dog’s needs and our personal schedule. Once all, some foods offer a lot of bigger convenience than the additional natural, less processed sorts of food that may need freezing, thawing, cooking and preparation.

Convenience aside, the simplest food to relinquish your dog depends not on the brand or the style, however rather on your dog’s age and any special needs he might have. For instance, older dogs require food containing a careful balance of protein, fat and fiber. Most commercial dog food companies address this need with offerings like senior dog food, containing about eighteen % protein, and food for dogs diagnosed with renal failure, containing about 14% protein.

Dare to Compare Dry Dog Food

The vast majority of dog homeowners select dry dog food. Between the supermarket and specialty pet stores, homeowners relish several brands to settle on from. Dry dog food consists of kibble typically created from one primary ingredient like chicken, beef or lamb. More specifically, the most ingredient is sometimes a meat byproduct that’s been processed, dried and sold in packs or luggage for simple dispensing. Needless to mention, meat byproducts are so much cheaper than meat, therefore this sort of dog food is not only simple to store, it’s a lot of more cost-effective than different types.

Onerous kibble comes with some advantages. For example, it offers your dog’s mouth some exercise, and kibble’s less possible to contribute to plaque than softer foods.

When comparing brands, it helps to remember that there are basically two types of dry dog food on the market: premium dog food and economy dog food. A smart owner can avoid buying the economy food, which is created from lower grade ingredients (for instance, economy dog food can usually substitute cheap corn for the a lot of expensive meat byproducts). The “end” result, because it were, is that your dog cannot absorb many nutrients but merely passes the food through his body. Therefore additionally to enjoying less nutrition, your dog can turn out larger stools — and you might find yourself with additional frequent vet bills.

Different Fashionable Contenders: Canned, Semi-Moist and Additional

Different categories of dog food include the semi-moist sort and canned food. Several owners like to combine in some canned food with dry food, to doubtless cowl additional nutritional bases without taking too massive a hit to the pocketbook.

Semi-moist food is attractively convenient to homeowners, and dogs love it. Unfortunately, it may cause dental problems within the mid-term and worse in the long run, as a result of semi-moist food is loaded with corn syrup and other sugars, that dogs just aren’t designed to process.

Recently, more natural, “premium” dog food has been introduced to the market, in that higher quantities of quality, nutritious ingredients are used to manufacture the food — usually human-grade, in fact. Since vegetables, fruits, real meat and quality grains are used as the first protein source in the very best-quality dog foods, these foods are a fast route to healthy skin and beautiful fur. For the foremost part, they contain no artificial coloring and preservatives, but are chock-full of vitamins and minerals instead.

Although this food prices more, you can feed your dog less of it, as a result of it’s additional nutritionally dense. Thus in terms of both convenience and nutrition, a premium, natural dog food is one in all the most effective selections on the market to your dog, whether off-the-shelf or purchased online.

Electronic collars, also known as e-collars or shock collars, are the latest type of training collars for dogs, as well as perhaps the most effective. Each type of electronic collar has its own particular focus. One of the most common types is the electronic no-bark training collar. As you might have guessed, this type of collar is used to encourage the dog not to bark. This goal can be accomplished through the use of an electronic collar in a few different ways. There are electronic training collars that, when the dog barks, give off vibrations, ultrasonic noise (a sound that only the dog can hear), or different types of spray such as citronella, lemon, or water. A popular option for these among dog lovers is the Petsafe PBC-1000 premium stationary ultrasonic bark control system

Or, you can activate it until the dog performs a desired action (this is called “negative reinforcement”). Basically, you can use a remote training collar along with just about any training scheme. These types of collars can come with a variety of different functions. The most advanced remote training collars can output multiple levels and durations of stimulation to the dog. Vibration and sound features are also available should you need them. It’s also worth keeping in mind that remote training collars can be used in conjunction with other training tools. When selecting one of these bear in mind that the Innotek FS-15 basic static electricity shock remote dog trainer is one of the more popular selections.

The current isn’t so strong that it will harm the dog – it simply gets his attention. It will teach the dog to stay within the boundaries in order to stop the current. Electronic dog training collars for invisible fences are really easy to use, as their popularity suggests. That being said, you will need to train your dog in order to make sure that the lesson associated with the fence is learned correctly. If you aren’t really sure as to how to go about this, it’s a good idea to consult with a professional trainer. This way, you can get the best possible results out of your invisible fence system. Be sure to consider the Innotek IUC5100 premium electronic dog fence and remote trainer system when making your selection as it’s one of the more popular options.

How crucial is the gender of a dog when choosing a pet? Will the gender of your new puppy make a difference when it comes to training? It depends upon what you are wanting when choosing a dog. Both male and female dogs will make wonderful pets and probably the most important aspect of choosing a puppy is not the gender but rather the personality of the dog and how it responds to you and your family.

The temperament, the level of required care and the size of the breed are far more important considerations when choosing a puppy than the gender of the dog. Males and females have different personality attributes but either can be well trained and both can make wonderful pets. For more information about dog obedience training and where you can get dog training videos online that will show you step-by-step every thing you need to know.

If you are getting a dog just for a pet and not for breeding reasons it is crucial to get your dog spayed or neutered. If you do not get your female dog spayed you will have to deal with the mess of her going into heat every so often. If you do not get your male dog neutered you will have to restrain him and make sure that he does not go out roaming to find female dogs that are in heat. Breeding dogs is a big responsibility that encompasses more than just adorable litters of puppies every so often. Spaying and neutering is the wise thing to do for the ordinary pet owner.

Male dogs are often believed to be more territorial and therefore better watchdogs. Females are usually a bit smaller in stature but are thought to have more loving and warmer temperaments. Families with young children may consider a female dog because of the maternal instincts of a female or they may choose a male because of the increased energy and endurance to play. It is an individual decision depending upon what you are looking for in a pet.

However, it is smart to consider that all of these characterizations are just generalizations. Female dogs can be great watchdogs and male dogs can be loving companions. Dogs exhibit their own personalities and what is important is how they mesh into your family.

There are some traits that are more dominant within a certain gender but dogs of the other gender will sometimes exhibit those same traits. For example, male dogs tend to mark their territories but a female will also mark territory at different times. Female dogs tend to be a bit more independent but a male dog can also show this trait.

It is believed that female dogs are a bit simpler to housetrain because they do not mark territory as frequently. Male dogs are often chosen for police work because of their increased endurance. If you are looking for something specific it may make sense to choose a dog based upon gender but if you are just wanting a wonderful pet, it would be better to choose a pleasing personality that meshes with your family rather than a male or a female.

Puppies bring their own challenges whether they are male or female and both genders can make wonderful and loving pets. Choose a puppy to become part of your family rather than basing a decision upon gender.

Busy & Zoom 2009 - 2) - Puppies Are 3 Hours Old
On July 1st 2009 Busy and Zoom have a litter of 11 puppies. It is a good size litter. There are 6 girls and 5 boys. When the labor starts, I find it normal to have a puppy an hour. There are times when you get 2 close together, but then you have a long time before the next one arrives. You must watch closely for any signs that the female may be in trouble. There could be a baby that has turned sidewise and is blocking the others from being born. If she is doing a lot of straining, more than likely, that next puppy will be born die. The birthing process can be very long. If you have 9 puppies it can take up to 9 hours for all of them to be born. Of course, you won’t know how many are in there, so you will be watching for maybe 11 to 12 hours. I always take my mothers to the vet, when I think they are done and get an x-ray, to be sure everyone has been born. I also get my puppies check out at that time too.
We are back home from the vet and I have settled Busy into the whelping box. I’m keeping the puppies in a warming box so they stay warm and so she won’t step on them. Once Busy is comfortable I start introducing the puppies to her. I take 3 puppies at a time and place them next to her. She will start licking and cleaning the puppies. Busy is an experienced mother. She knows how to clean and stimulate the puppies. Just in case you don’t know, puppies don’t go to the bathroom on their own at birth. They have to be stimulated to do so. She is doing a great job of cleaning them. Her milk came in by Thursday morning. I make sure each puppy is cleaned up and is nursing. Sometimes the mothers milk has not come in yet, but the puppies should still nurse. I kept adding puppies until I have 1/2 of the litter with the mother or about 5 or 6 puppies. I wait until the puppies in the warming box start fussing or about 2 hours and then I rotate the other half of the litter with the mother. I keep doing this until the mother indicates that she wants all of the puppies with her. When I put all of the puppies with the mother I watch very carefully to be sure that she doesn’t step on a puppy or roll on a puppy. This is a common way to loose a puppy. If you look closely at the whelping box, you will see that there is a railing on the inside that stops the mother from laying up against the side. This is called a pig railing and provides a place for the puppy to be, so the mother won’t lay on it. The puppies weigh about 10 to 16 oz.
For the next 5 to 7 days I sleep next to the whelping box where I can hear the puppies, again listening for a puppy that is being squished. I watch that the smallest puppies is always close to the mother and that it is nursing. Sleeping next to the litter, I’m right there when the mother wants to go outside. I always pick up the puppies and put them in the warming box, when she gets up and starts moving around.
When you deliver the puppies you tie off the umbilical cord before you cut it. I have the vet replace it with a surgical staple. You can see this staple in the video and how the cord is drying up.
You can tell if the puppies are warm enough by watching to see if they are spread out away from the mother. If they are all huddle around and under the mother your room is too cold.
When the puppies are eating their little tails are going like mad. Happy little tails. Golden Retrievers come in all different shades of gold. They go from light to dark.
Busy finds a different way of nursing her puppies. She doesn’t have to lie down.
The mother registered name is Spirit’s Busy B N Me and the fathers name is OTCH Spirit’s Zim Zam Zoom (the #1 All Breed Dog in Canada for 2008)
I breed Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever in Redmond, WA. I have been Breeding, Training, and Showing in AKC, CKC, UKC Obedience & Agility trials for over 35 years. I love raising puppies and teaching people how to live with dogs. I have bred some of the top Obedience dogs in the US & Canada including the #1 All Breed Dog in Canada for 2008, GMOTCH, Am, OTCH SPIRIT’S ZIM ZAM ZOOM UDX3. My dogs are very athletic, love to swim, hike and are very intelligent. They make wonderful family members and are great with children. If you are look for a new family member, you won’t go wrong with one of my dogs.
