Tug’s flying finish!- clicker dog training
THIS IS AWESOME!
My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog.
Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches.
Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

This is just some short footage demoing Tug my little puppies left finish as well as Splash my border collies Hot Dog retrieve. I taught this by just getting her to retrieve other things and then adding in the hot dog, but most dogs will actually eat the hot dog on the way back. To learn an awesome technique for the hot dog retrieve check out youtube user : supernaturalbc2009
She has a complete fool proof tutorial on it.

Wow, Tug is doing so well and so unbelievably adorable. You are such a terrific trainer. Splash is awesome, I love Splash! Great hot dog retrieve!
LOVE your videos! …
LOVE your videos! Such a great reminder of how much one can accomplish it they stick to it. Your advice to Juliexo06 was super great too… Our 2.5 year old (rescue, been with us since Aug 09) tends to shut down if training is planned or ‘obvious’. I keep sessions super short (1-2 mins) or try to sneak things in here and there when we are at the park or otherwise relaxed and happy.

this reminds me of a “natural” dog training book i read once (well, skimmed through). the trainer claimed that you could only teach a flying finish by using a choke chain. HA!
great job! it’s amazing what you do with your dogs.
WOW! Look at that …
WOW! Look at that little guy jump! He is adorable and so smart! What a perfect finish!
Nice work Splashers! I know how hard that must have been for Splashers, she LOVES her food! Awesome video!
Awesome hot dog …
Awesome hot dog trick, Emily! I would like to teach my new puppy to crawl, down on all hauches as in a ‘down’, commando style. With his head up, as well as with his head down between his paws. How would you suggest I go about this? Can Splash or Kiko do anything like that? Thanks!!

@kikopup Well, he …
@kikopup Well, he began to offer ME calming signals (yawning & stretching), so I assumed he was stressed and I was asking too much of him too fast!? But thanks for the tip, next time I’ll offer some signals to try to relax him. To be quite honest, when I started obedience was the thing I thought about in the 1st place, as he’s already 2 (yea, there’s kind of a pressure & today’s society is all about obedience, right? stupid) - but I should probably rethink & start having fun with.
Thank you!
i like the hotdog …
i like the hotdog trick too. i just taught my dog to hold a treat on his mouth but not eat it until i say OK. i think it can be advanced to retrieving a treat?
@agkshibby He used …
@agkshibby He used to jump quite a lot! Still does a bit when really excited. SO I thought I would turn it into a trick, before I extinguished it… Initially I trained the left finish with the rear end awareness exercise and then just encouraged him with a lure to jump up as he turned.
@Juliexo06 and …
@Juliexo06 and relax! Take it easy, offer calming signals! they help to calm yourself down too.
@Juliexo06 If it is …
@Juliexo06 If it is because your dog shuts down. DON”T work on obedience with your dog- the dog will sense your urgency if he gets it wrong. Try some tricks that are fun, and if your dog doesn’t learn them you can say “oh well!” I would def. play 101 things to do with a box, and click EVERY muscle movement of your dog, every step they take at first! You could teach “touch”. You could in the house or yard run away from the dog and click them for following and then drop a treat, then run off…
@Juliexo06 Do you …
@Juliexo06 Do you mean stressed as getting over excited about the food, or shutting down and not wanting to do anything for you? For excitement you could sit with food and a clicker and watch tv, and when the dog has given up stressing about the food and goes and lays down (or is not thinking about the food- looking calm) CLICK and give a treat, and then ignore the dog until the same thing happens (you will be building a calm dog around food)
that is AWESOME! …
that is AWESOME! love Tug’s flying! did you ask him to do that or was that just his own little style? and im very impressed with the hot dog trick!!
