How to paint your pets portrait
THIS IS AWESOME!
My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog.
Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches.
Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

This is a tutorial on how to paint your own pet portrait without having a background in art. I myself do pet portraits but went to the Slade School of Fine Art in London England, however I learned some tricks along the way for those who have no clue about drawing or art. Hope you enjoy creating your very own painting of your pet!
Here are the colors I used:
Titanium White
French Ultramarine Blue
Burnt Sienna (a brown)
Burnt Umber (a dark brown)
Alizeran Crimson (a red)
Cadmium Yellow
Cadmium Orange
Other colors that are a good beginners palate:
Cadmium Red
Yellow Ochre
Mars Black (however you can mix black from the primary colors, or create a nice off black by mixing burnt sienna and ultramarine blue) My tip is to never use real black in your painting except in tiny quantities.
If you find that the graphite has dirtied your picture, simply wash it off with soap and water.
If you let the painting dry between layers, or if you blow dry your painting between layers, you will be able to erase any mistakes you make on the top layer with a little warm water and a sponge.
Tip: Change your water constantly so that it is clear. If you mix colors with muddy water you will get a muddy painting
Tip: For fine lines and edges make sure to add a little water for a smoother easier to paint line.
Tip: Dole out the money for the smallest brush sizes, as buying a cheap small sized brush will just cause you heart ache and frustration.
This same method can be used for painting any animal or human portrait.
See you next time!!!!!

What a great video! You really inspired me.
As soon as I watched it and read the comments, I decided to try it. I don’t have any paint or brushes or canvas, so I used the colored pencils that I do have. I haven’t done much in the past with them other than coloring in a few images I stamped. But I LOVE the way it turned out!
I posted my short video as a reply. It’s just a short video from the photos I took.. Thank-you!

Kikopup, this is such a COOL video idea, I love it! I will definitely try this! I draw/sometimes paint for fun so this is going to be exciting. Very awesome tips and I found the bit where Kiko was snoozing during Splash’s painting very funny, heheh. It’s very nice of you to share both dog training and art tutorials alike! Thanks for devoting your time so much! -Zander and Brittany

Carino is so cute! …
Carino is so cute! What breed of dog is Carino?
6H is really light …
6H is really light because the lead is hard 5B to 9B are really soft so are good for making a transfer. They sell graphite powder in a jar that would be possible to use for a transfer, but I can tell you, its not worth the mess, that stuff gets EVERYWHERE!!! Art stores sell transfer paper, but that doesnt work as good at this method. Also the finer the paper you print on the better the tracing will be.
Also… H6? Not 6B?

I love this idea, and also reading all the comments and ideas from others. I think my grandson would love to try this, too! Please do make more videos like this, showing us how to bring art and our pets together, whether on this channel or another. Just let us know where to find you! azmauigirl

Hey Emily! Thanks for this, I have always been envious of people that can draw or paint because I feel like they always have something to do. Well, now I do!!! When money isn’t so tight I am going to give this a try.

Thanks tracy! I really appreciate it coming from you!
If you use paper, …
If you use paper, you want to use pretty thick paper with not to much water in the paint or the paper will buckle. You could also use cardboard, or whatever you have around, a wood panel. Whatever! Be creative!
Haha, yes Kiko is …
Haha, yes Kiko is on her heating pad, thats where she spends about 22 hours of the day sleeping.
