How do I find reputable dog breeders online?
THIS IS AWESOME!
My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog.
Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches.

I’m looking for an Akita Inu puppy and when I type the name in on my search engine there are many websites that say they sell the type of dog I’m looking for. But how do I find out if they are good or bad breeders? And is there a well trusted site that I can go to for the specific breed I am looking for?
Have you tried pets 4 homes website? That is good and tends to have lots of different breeds.
They have Akita’s i’ve just checked for you.

The best place to start is the breed club’s website. Most have a breeder referral page and if they do not they typically have a contact person for breeder referral information. Even then you will need to screen breeders, so you will need to research the breed, its health issues etc so you know what you are looking for. You still have a much better chance of finding a responsible breeder on the breed club website than a random web search however.

I wanted a Cardigan Welsh Corgi. I tracked breeders using the American Kennel Club website as well as websites by groups dedicated to my dog’s breed. That is not where I stopped though. After finding local breeders, I looked up their AKC records for the sire and dame and visited breeders. After finding a respectable breeder who know in the community for only breeding one litter every 2 years and finding their records keeping and home were perfect, I bought my dog. He is perfect. Also look for a breeder that can show you breed records for the sire and dame as well as one who agrees to a health warranty (at least the first year of life).

Beware of puppy mills! the internet it the easiest way to sell poorly bred, sick or injured puppies to unsuspecting customers!. I would never purchase a dog without meeting at least one parent and seeing where the puppies are living. That’s the only way you can trust people. Certain breeds are prone to aggression, problems with their legs and hips, skin allergies and a whole range of illnesses that are genetic. Bad breeders don’t care and breed these dogs. I see it every day at the animal hospital where I work, believe me, it is much better to shell out the money for a puppy that you know is from good parents and genes. If you get a cheap puppy you will end u paying the price for the expensive money and then some, in vet bills alone! You can look online, but try to look in your area or a place you can drive to.

Notice breeders PAY to be listed on this site. There are people who will be able to tell you what to look for in a reputable breeder. And what the signs are for a questionable breeder.
Unfortunately, I am not qualified to do that.
