Dog Breeders Archives

THIS IS AWESOME! My favorite dog trainer and dog whisperer of all time has just released a free video online explaining how to eliminate 94% of all unwanted behavior in ANY dog. Her name is Krista Cantrell and I absolutely LOVE the way she teaches. Click on the video to watch. You'll be glad you did...

I’m looking for purebred chocolate labs. Does anyone know of some websites to find dog breeders?
Thanks,
-Josh

AKC.org
But talk to the breed clubs first, they will put you in touch with the more reputable breeders who list with the AKC…necessary because the AKC doesn’t police their registrants. Also necessary for this specific breed because there are gobs of lab breeders due to the popularity of the breed…remember, the worst thing to happen to the quality of any breed is to become seriously popular…that’s when idiots toss their hats in the breeding ring and bloodlines aren’t monitored as less reputable people try to pimp out their dogs for extra cash and care little about perfecting the breed, which is the only reason anyone should get into a breeding program, and is what separates reputable breeders from disreputable ones.

(FYI, the chocolate lab is a throwback and the least desirable of the lab colors to most breeders…this means it may be somewhat difficult to find one that will adopt it out, it will most likely be a limited registration and it should absolutely be less expensive…be wary of any breeder who doesn’t do this or tries to charge you more for the "novelty" of it.)

Polar Dogs Club Belgrade is expert section of Belgrade Kinology Society, and it manages quality and popularity of polar dogs in our country.

Club was officially formed on 6th of March 2002 in Belgrade, but it actually started its work two years earlier. Few enthusiastic polar dog breeders decided to start joint work and cooperation through consultation, joint presentations on kinology manifestations, visiting other breeders and clubs abroad and maintaining professional contact.

Liberty 1 year after: JUSTICE FOR LIBERTY

Warning, following Photos are not for the weak hearted:
Meet our Bulldog Liberty, we got her from Verobull. I had mange only passed from my mother during my first 7 days of life. I was still under my health contract with Veronica Mayor; the breeder that is now in the State of Colorado whom my mommy got me from when I became ill. When I became ill with cancer, my mommy contacted my breeder. Veronica takes no responsibility for me having any illness and calls my family bad dog owners.
Yet she is still breeding English Bulldogs in Golden Colorado. Many of them have become ill, and died, and many are ill from the start. My mommy is still heartbroken, because I died.
I had cancer threw out my body; Veronica Mayor said it was treatable. Veterinarians recommend putting me to sleep. I was terminal with cancer. Cancer with only a 1% survival rate. DID I LOOK TREATABLE TO YOU? All my family wanted was to love me, and they did fully.
May 30, 2008 Rest in Peace my perish love, I promised you Justice the day you died.

It is typical for pet stores to tell customers that their puppies come from licensed breeders. What they dont say is that many USDA-licensed dog breeders maintain kennels like the one shown in this video, shot in March 2009. Best Friends has compiled this and other video footage to show the public what it really means to be a licensed breeder. To learn more about how puppies from kennels like this often end up for sale in retail pet stores, visit our website: http://puppiesarentproducts.com/

WTHR - Indiana’s Puppy Pipeline Part 2

While puppies from commercial breeding operations are sold to pet stores, their parents are often left behind. Those dogs usually live their adult lives in a cage.

So what happens to dogs that can no longer produce puppies? What do commercial breeders do with those?

Kim Townsend, a dog breeding industry researcher, says many of those dogs become the forgotten victims of the Puppy Pipeline.

“A lot of them just stay in the same cage until they die,” Townsend said. “They just linger.”

Uncle Bill’s gets most of its puppies from commercial dog breeders in Daviess County, Ind. That area is home to dozens of commercial breeders who supply thousands of puppies to central Indiana pet stores.

It seems to me that all those dogs wouldn’t get the attencion they need each day. How do you walk 10 dogs at a time? Is that even possible? Are these people full time breeders with no other job and they spend 8 hours a day taking care of all of their dogs? How do you they take care of all the adult dogs when puppies are born. Puppies are time consuming.

Breeders usually do have some type of outside income, maybe not full time, but breeders don’t really make income off breeding. Usually they schedule their vacation time at work around the birth of a new litter, and have lots of help from friends and family with feedings, etc. Yes, puppies are time consuming, but puppies under 10 weeks of age sleep most of the time, and can entertain themselves playing with litter-mates when they are not the centre of attention. Also, newborn puppies don’t really need to be walk, and shouldn’t be until they have had their shots, so that isn’t an issue.

Many breeders live on farms/in the country with lots of running space, so the adult dogs don’t need to be walked, but can be let out for a good run. Most puppies are "home raised" in family homes, so there are lots of people to help out with the extra tasks when a litter is born.

And few breeders will have 10 adult dogs hanging around. If they did I would be suspicious of their motives. Most have a couple of females, and then the litter, some *might* also have a male. They keep the puppies they think are show quality for themselves, and sell the other puppies as show dogs or pets. Good breeders will usually also keep the runt of the litter, as selling it would be burdensome to the new owner. If they are working dogs it’s the same story. They keep the puppies they want and sell the rest, few will have multiple breeding pairs as it is just too much work.

So called dog lovers who just breed sick animals for big money, this has to stop now. Kennel. club UK hang your head in shame. This gives us all an idea of the suffering caused, and just how far some breeders will go to defend their lucrative incomes
