The Right Dog Care Helps Ensure Your Canine Friend’s Happiness And Good Health

Human beings and their dogs have been inseparable companions from way back in time and part of the reason for these close bonds between humans and their pet dogs is the love that dogs give so unconditionally to their human masters who for their part leave no stone unturned in providing their four legged friends with the best in dog care. If you have a dog or are about to bring one home it pays to learn more about proper dog care so that your dog is provided a home that he loves and stays happy in and who will then for his part in return reward you with his loyalty and companionship.

Dog Care Is Important

The first step in proper dog care is understands the need to collar your pet and also attach an identification tag that contains your pet’s name and address and your name as well as your telephone number. Such tags will help finder return your lost dog.

The second important aspect to providing proper dog care is to go through the legal requirements involving giving pet vaccines against rabies and other forms of diseases. In addition, you have to also get used to keeping your dog on a leash, especially when he is outside of his home.

Keeping the dog in a nice home is one of the important steps of dog care. Typically, his home should be large enough to house him though at the same time it would be cruel to confine him in his home for too long because all dogs crave for and demand human company. So, be careful about how you keep your pet dog.

Other dog care steps include getting your pet checked up regularly by a veterinarian to ensure that your pet always enjoys good health. For those dog owners that are not keen on breeding their pets it is a good idea for them to pay heed to another dog care tip which is to get their pets neutered which is a simple surgical procedure that does not cost much but which also ensures that your pet lives for longer and also stays healthier.

The right diet is essential to providing suitable dog care and you also need to train your pet and give him plenty of exercise so that he remains happy and will then reciprocate with loyalty and faithfulness.

Dog day care is another important issue that affects every dog owner today. If you are a working person and you find that your work takes up all of your time then you need to ensure that your dog is not left on his own in your home during your office hours. This is where sending him to a day care center during the day will prove to be a good solution for you and your dog.

Raising the Rufus: July 26, 2009

To give Rufus more of a “mission” on our daily walks, we picked up his first piece of adventure gear: a backpack.

At the moment, it only carries two of his toys and some poop-scooping bags (don’t tell him that’s all, though). As he gets older - and the weather a bit cooler - he’ll be able to start carrying around his own water bottle, and maybe some treats for when we take a break. ‘Till then, I think I’ll be doing most of the heavy lifting.

Oh, and about the “moose” comment: since we’re supposed to be traveling together, I tell Rufus that when he wanders too far or gets too spastic, we’ll be eaten by the wild moose wandering the tundrid plains (of Dallas, TX). So far, his husky instincts have been deaf to my protestations.

What Are Good Rewards For Puppy Training?

For example, would it be okay to train my dog and reward him with cheerios? Just plain cheerios, not flavored or anything. I would rather not go out and buy treats because I don’t think those are very healthy for puppies. Any other suggestions of household foods or other ideas for a reward system would be great! Thanks!

They do have treats that are made just for puppies and they also have organic kinds so that you know what you are feeding your dogs. Ex:Nutro has good treats. I would use the puppy kind and break them in half. They even have specific training treats.
I gave my dog plain cheerios when she was older and house broken. I didnt want to risk it when she was a puppy since Cheerios have fiber and grain which could mean more poop and if puppy isnt housebroken that means more poop for you to clean up.
But for some reason my pitbull thought she was human so when I didnt want to give her treats she got cheerios, cut up apple slices, raisins, carrots, and an occasional corner of a slice of cheese.
These days there is a health kick going around so you will be able to find more organic and healthy people food and dog food around.
Good Luck.

I am experienced in breeding and search and rescue/tracking training. But how does one breed dogs, train the puppies for search and rescue/tracking and sell those dogs for police work or like emergency teams? Are there any places that WANT to buy well bred well trained dogs for their programs? Thanks so much and God bless
I am saying I am a breeder of a working breed anyway. If I train my pups to track and work, are there facilities that would want to buy my (now they would be young adults) dogs?

Not that I know a lot about SAR….

I believe a lot of people who do SAR are volunteers, working with whatever dog they happen to have, or they have a specific breeder that they like.

As for official SARs, I’d suggest contacting THEM and seeing where they get their dogs and what their criteria are.

Here are some resources that might be helpful to you.

How much is home dog/puppy training?

I’m thinking about getting a home dog trainer. How much does it usually cost? I know it depends and the price varies, but what does it generally cost?

I’m thinking about getting a trainer from barkbusters. Anyone heard of them? Are they successful at what they do? Also, in general, do these (dog training) lessons pay off. That is, are they even worth it/ beneficial?

If it helps at all, I live in California.

well if i was you id do a obedience class that way your training your dog and not some stranger i think hands on is alot better for you and the dog plus you get socialize your dog will be alot more dog/people friendly…now if theres a real big problem you cant solve your self then call a personal dog trainer…at a pet store the classes will cost around $100

What is a dog breeders license?

Saw in a kennel add that the folks were licensed dog breeders.
Whats that? do you actually need a license to breed dogs?
How do you get one?

Its more like a license to kill, really. Every dog you get from a breeder, a dog from a shelter is euthanized. You dont want that, do you?
Breeding kills.
